The Annual Christmas Show
Our Annual Christmas Show is the highlight of the year for us and for many pupils and their parents. This takes place in Dunbar Grammar School and has done for the last fifteen years. All proceeds from the show go to The Sick Kids Hospital, a charity that we have raised over £30,000 for over the years. While this money makes a huge difference to the hospital, the Show is predominantly for the enjoyment of our pupils and their parents. A huge amount of work goes into making every single child look and feel their best and making sure that they get the best chance to perform.
In recent years it has become necessary to fundraise for the show, as the increasing cost of costumes, and hall hire have meant that we have raised less funds to donate to the sick kids. We have fundraised by dancing at HallHill's Simba Day, face-painting at East Links, holding movie days at Hallhill. and selling action photos from previous shows.
The thing that makes the show such a great weekend is the teamwork and sense of family. Every year a team of parents volunteer to help with dressing, organisation, selling tickets, working the sound or even as front of house staff. This help is massively appreciated by pupils and teachers alike, as the show would not go on without their effort. Older pupils also help out, and fun and laughter is always heard backstage. Thank you to everyone who helps the Show go ahead, hopefully it will for many years to come.
