Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone has had a lovely holiday and is now ready to get stuck into exam work! In case anyone missed it, here is all our news for the New Year:
I hope you all enjoyed our show at Christmas. I was very proud of all the children and hope they all had great fun.
Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the lovely flowers and gifts given to myself, Miss Knight and Miss Mathieson and thank you to the students and parents who organised it.
The overall amount raised for The Sick Children’s Hospital was an amazing £3,343.20. Over 15 years of running the shows, we have now raised a whopping £30,679.88! One final order for show DVD’s will be sent on 21st January. Anyone still wishing to buy one should put the payment of £14.00 inside an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name, class and which show you would like to order, written on the front.
We are active almost every day on Facebook and Instagram ( @dunbar_school_of_dancing , our old account is now inactive) and we post reminders, updates and photos. Please follow us on both sites to be kept in the loop.
Fees for Term 3 are due on the week beginning 22nd January. Fee payment cards will be handed out the week before and should be returned with the payment. It would be very much appreciated if you could write your child’s name on the back of cheques and please include the payment card with your fees in an envelope. If you have more than one child attending classes, please include them all on the same cheque and also remember to include all the classes your child attends. An administration charge of £5.00 will be added to fees paid later than the first two weeks of term.
As most of you will know Miss Mathieson has now left us. It’s been a huge struggle to find another teacher, but I’m pleased to say I have two excellent teachers starting with us this week. One of my ex pupils, Kirsty MacKenzie is now a primary teacher at Dunbar Primary School and will be teaching the Pre School and Primary 1 classes on Saturdays. Hannah Clark, has just moved back to Edinburgh, from London and has extensive experience in performing, teaching and choreography. She will be teaching on Wednesdays and Fridays. I’m hoping they will both love our school as much as Miss Knight and I do and want to continue with us.
We would appreciate any child wishing to sit out and watch class or wear supports due to injury, bringing a note explaining the injury and treatment being taken. If the injury persists please keep teachers updated with written notes each week.
There will be no classes during the February school holidays from Mon 12th – 18th Feb, we resume on Mon 19th. At Easter there will be no classes from Mon 32nd – 15th Apr, we will resume on Mon 16th April.
Changing Young Children
Please do not undress young children in the bar area or squash courts at Hallhill. Many of the men also using the facilities, are finding this very uncomfortable and have complained. Public areas are also covered by cctv cameras and the children can be seen changing on screens. Please either use the toilets or ask staff at the bar for the changing room key.
School T-Shirts and Hoodies
It’s lovely to see so many children wearing their school t-shirts and hoodies. These can be ordered at any time from the Dunbar T-Shirt shop, 104 High St, Dunbar, Tel; 01450 218 121, www.dunbartshirt.com
